National Center of Oncology participated in the XI Congress of oncologists and radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia

I Congress of oncologists and radiologists, organized by the Association of Directors of the centers and institutes of oncology and radiology of the CIS and Eurasia was started in an online format on April 23.

At the opening ceremony, Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, read out the congratulatory letter of the Russian President Vladimir Putinto the participants of the congress.

The congress, which was held in an online formatfor the first time, has become a real forum for scientists and specialists to exchange their experience. Over 7,000 participants from 10 countries participated in the congress.

At the plenary meeting of the congress, delegates gave detailed information on the work done in the field of oncology and radiology in their countries, on the best practices and challenges. The specialists from different countries gave presentationson the first day of the congress. Among the presentations, the report on the organization and success of the oncological service in Azerbaijan was met withgreat interest.

About 10 reports and more than 30 theses of Azerbaijani oncologists on breast diseases, on urology, proctology, head and neck cancer surgery will be presented during the congress. The National Center of Oncology, which joined the congress with a large group of specialists, plans to bring up the current problems of cancer research in the world, recommendations and opinions on the treatment and examination of cancer patients during the coronavirus pandemicin the plenary discussions.

The congress informed about the establishment of a new medal named after the world-famous oncologist-surgeon, Academic Nikolai Trapeznikov, who was Head the Russian Scientific Center of Oncology for many years. By the decision of the Presidium of the Association, the medal is awarded to the scientists and specialists who have achieved high results in the field of prevention, treatment and research of oncological diseases in the world.

The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko informed the congress participants that a unanimous decision was made to award the new medal named after Academic Nikolai Trapeznikov to Academic Jamil Aliyev, Director General of the National Center of Oncology of Azerbaijan. The participants of the congress welcomed this decision.

Academic Jamil Aliyev expressed his deep gratitude to Mikhail Murashko, Head of the Association and all the congress participants for the high appreciation of his activities.

The congress will last until April 25.
